Game’s Best Teach Its Future
As the U.S. men’s national team gets geared up for the 2006 International Lacrosse Federation (ILF) World Championships, team members have given of their time to teach others the game. Throughout the month of October, 16 members of Team USA held three instructional clinics in Louisville, Ky., Manchester, N.H., and Alexandria, Va., respectively.
Over 230 participants, ages 7 to 14 learned from the best in the game including Kyle Harrison, Trevor Tierney and Casey Powell.
“While we all know what successful and talented players they are, their ability to genuinely connect with the boys was fabulous,” said Neal Cory of the Kentucky Chapter, which hosted one of the clinics.
The feedback from parents and the US Lacrosse chapters has been wonderful. Donations made to the U.S. teams help make the men’s and women’s national team clinics possible. For more information on donating to one of the U.S. national teams, please visit www.uslacrosse.org and click on “National Teams.”
STX is the official sponsor of the US Lacrosse Men’s Division National Teams Program.
The Women’s Division National Teams Program has announced its schedule of instructional clinics (please see page 16), and the U.S. Elite and Developmental teams will hold practices open to the public Jan. 27-29 in Sanford, Fla. The practices will serve as tuneups for a Jan. 29 scrimmage against defending NCAA Division I champion Northwestern. A site for the scrimmage had not been determined at press time.
